The answers to these questions are not trivial in these days of the pandemic. Hands are a key distributor of germs, and protecting them has emerged as a key way to combat the virus. In response to the skyrocketing demand for gloves, Adam Karapetyan, CEO of Wholesale Nitrile Gloves, created his company to manufacture and distribute nitrile gloves.
Nitrile was first used to make gloves nearly twenty years ago. It is a very strong chemical and comes from rubber trees. Nitrile gloves have become more popular than latex gloves and are increasingly being relied on to keep people working in the food industry and elsewhere safe.
Science is showing that this faith is not misplaced. The gloves’ effectiveness has been proven in multiple studies. One showed that between vinyl, latex, and nitrile, nitrile rates at the top for safety: vinyl gloves failed 12-61% of the time while latex’s failure rate was 0-4% and nitrile’s was 1-3%.
All of these reasons and more point to the increasing popularity of nitrile gloves. It’s an added plus that they are chemical resistant, protecting the wearer’s hands even when harsh chemicals are used. Nitrile is also more comfortable than the materials used in other gloves. Its softness and cleanliness appeal to many people. It is puncture-resistant, one reason the gloves are used by mechanics. Perhaps the best reason is that they are free of latex and do not cause an allergic reaction.
Adam notes, “They are as cheap as latex and are comfortable when worn for prolonged periods.” Other advantages noted in the media include that their design means that the wearer is able to easily grasp objects. They do not trap heat against the skin, meaning that the hands do not sweat.
“Inevitably, when the benefits of these gloves increased and the pandemic hit, the demand for them led to their price going up and their availability going down,” Adam states. With this in mind, he jumped into the market, leveraged his connections and experience, and started his company, Wholesale Nitrile Gloves, to fill the demand.
“The pandemic has taken all of us in new directions. My new direction has been these gloves. I am fortunate to be able to supply personal protective equipment or PPP for people. I knew that nitrile is a high-quality alternative to latex, so I acquired and distributed high-quality personal protective equipment and started offering it. The demand has really taken off. With my multi-state distribution network, I help my customers get gloves.”
Since 2020, Adam has used his company to offer personal protective wear that is of a high quality and not cost prohibitive.
“I value the number of lives my company has impacted. I know that by offering these gloves, people will be safer at their workplaces or in their homes. Gloves are not the only defense a person needs in this pandemic, but even so, they are an important part of combatting the pandemic.”
