William Huyler – Why Use Your Photos As Art

I watched an interviews last year with the photographer William Huyler and he was discussing the fact that all of his walls are covered in his own photography. Despite the fact William is clearly far more talented than I will ever be, I still liked this idea of using the shots which you have taken and turning them into artwork for your walls.

I started picking out a few of my very favorite images and blew them up to a reasonable size, and then placed them on my walls. This was an amazing choice and to be honest I absolutely love the way that it looks around the home. Even if you are an amateur photographer like I am, there is still so much that you will be able to enjoy from blowing up your images and putting them on your walls, and here are just some of the reasons that I love it.

    Unique

The most important point to make here is that this is a truly unique piece of art that you are going to be adding to our wall. There is literally nobody in the world who has this shot that you do, because of course you were the one who took it. I have had friends and family commenting on the pieces and some have even asked me where they will be able to get something similar. Naturally of course, they are out of luck on that front.

    Pride

I will be completely honest and say that there really is a great deal of pride which I get in looking at my own artwork on the walls. Now I do find myself picking out aspects of the shots which I wish were different, as any good photographer should. But there is absolutely no doubt about the fact that I just love looking at those shots and knowing that I was the one who took them.

    Using The Shots

One of the main reasons I did this in the first place was because of the fact that I just wasn’t using the images which I had been taking. I have memory cards which are chock full of images which I have absolutely no plan to do anything with. There is no point in storing so much of the work that you have done, so you might as well find ways in which to put them to good use. I cannot see any better way of doing this than by adding them to the wall and looking at them as you walk throughout the home.

Make sure that before you get the image blown up, that you have had a word with the staff at the printshop, as they will tell you whether or not the quality of the image is good enough to still look great when it is a larger scale.

If you like taking photos however, this is the very best way to enjoy them.
