Sex And The City was a straight-up hit. From its 1998 television debut to its final episode, Sex And The City continues to have a special place in our hearts with its escapist plot. Very few people can try to forget the joy of watching Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her loyal girlfriends, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda (Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon) in Manhattan. Together, they navigate the highs and lows of love and life in New York.
The show’s devotees had mixed feelings about the reboot, And Just Like That.
In the spirit of the hit show that defined the early 2000s, let’s delve deep into the iconic-style moments the show produced!
Samantha’s 80-Inspired Jumpsuit
In The Post-It Always Sticks Twice, Samantha Jones slays a ’80s-inspired jumpsuit. In that episode, a fellow writer, Jack Berger breaks up with Carrie a Post-It.
Carrie’s Mixed Floral Prints
Carrie Bradshaw’s look is one of the evolving looks. She wears a green and white floral dress, which will become one of the most known Sex And the City outfits of all time. It’s also a shoutout to the girls who think floral prints on floral prints won’t work together. The perfect companion to such an outfit would be a watch from Grand Seiko Watches.
Miranda’s “Skinny” Jeans
Miranda Hobbes, is known for her androgynous and corporate fashion. However, her arc in Sex And The City also tackles dealing with pregnancy. She’s also been one of the most cosmically unlucky characters in the franchise. However, the episode was one of the few where she had a win. She could fit into skinny jeans post-baby and stacked 70s bangles on her wrists with layered thin belts. However, the true star of the outfit was her confidence alone.
Carrie’s Dreamy Floral Ruffles
The earlier seasons of Sex and the City were responsible for truly iconic romantic fashion moments. One would be Carrie’s romantic ruffle floral dress. She wore it during Season 3.
Samantha Jones’ Vintage Suit
The first Sex and The City movie left many people feeling mixed overall. However, if there was anything good that came out of it, it would be the looks. Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones rocked a belted skirt suit that was Monochromatic, vintage-inspired, and perfectly fitted.
Carrie’s Little Black Dress
Carrie’s Little Black Dress (LBD) is another one that’s hard to miss! People are still confused about whether it’s charcoal grey or moss green; nobody has ever been that sure, either. The LBD, however, rules them all. Ever since we’ve seen Carrie rock it, all we’ve wanted is a bodycon tank dress that is as chic as the one that Carrie’s sported!
Charlotte’s Black Ribbed Top
Charlotte’s ribbed black top is another gem we get to see. Park Avenue Princess Charlotte York is known for being the most demure and conservative of the group, especially in comparison to Samantha’s free-wheeling ways. She doesn’t have outrageous fashion choices, and a certain degree of class and thought comes into her usual looks. However, Charlotte can rock big designer logos and pull them off. Although she might seem the princess type, she can pull off more daring looks like this black ribbed top.
Wrapping Up
Patricia Field’s genius styling has helped make the Sex and the City Wardrobe hold up well. Carrie was fashion-forward, which continues to live on in the street style of millennials. Miranda’s outfit presented minimalism and leaned towards androgyny. Lastly, Smaantha’s daring and sassy closet was always spectacular. Lastly, Charlotte was always put together.
