When it comes to vaping, a lot of our decisions in terms of the type that we use and the flavors that we select come down to personal preference. Unfortunately, though, due to all of the options out there, these choices can be a hard one to make. This is especially true if we are new to it, though veterans also get caught up in the options sometimes.
Today, I want to discuss what I personally look for in an electronic cigarette or vape pen. Now, your factors may be different than mine, of course. However, this will still likely be a valuable resource, considering everything that is at play.
The Design
One of the first things that I take into account when I decide to shop for a new vape is the ergonomics of the models. What does that mean? You can get a brief overview of it here, https://www.osha.gov/ergonomics, but essentially the idea is that these designs are meant to put as little stress on our hands and joints as possible.
The heavier the body of the vape, the more difficult it can be to hold. That is a bit of a no-brainer, of course, but it is why I like the sleeker selections. Thankfully, there are plenty for both nicotine and other substances like delta 8 that are small. These ones are also discreet, which is certainly not a nonfactor – I prefer not to grab too much attention in public, after all.
The Flavor Offerings
Before you purchase one, you should check out what the flavors are that the specific brand or model offers. This could look different depending on if you opt for a rechargeable one or a disposable one, since the difference between getting the bottles of liquid to refill the cartridge versus having one pen that you use several times before getting a new one is substantial. Consider what you enjoy tasting.
Most flavors for them are going to be sweet, which is something to keep in mind. For anyone who does not have the biggest, sweet tooth, you might want to consider the “classic” or “original” selections. However, that will not always be an option. Just keep an eye on that as you make your decision.
For myself, I enjoy the dessert-leaning options. There are some examples of this at hififarms, with options like blueberry muffin or honey. Even some of the stranger flavors like cereal and milk are appealing to me, so long as they bring a bit of sweet to my palette. That is just my tastes, though, so there is a fair chance you will opt for something else!
Ease of Use
Perhaps this one can go hand in hand with the first point that I made, but I still wanted to include it. The primary aspect of this that I want to focus on, though, is how well we are able to inhale or take a puff from the vape. The smoothness is definitely at play.
I tend not to like the bulkier models for this, once again. Sometimes they do not let us inhale in one go or make gargling sounds when we try. That is not something that appeals to me at all – I really do not enjoy that. I much prefer being able to take one long puff.
So, that is part of why I prefer something like disposable vape pens. They are a nice way to get started with vaping, because they do not have a lot of difficult buttons to deal with and components to put together. Of course, the tradeoff is that you have to purchase them over and over again. Thankfully, though, it is not overly detrimental to my experience with them.
Types of Chemicals
As a small disclaimer before I begin this section, I want to note that I am not using the word “chemical” in a negative light. I feel that this has been the connotation used by the media and alarmist blog posts far too much. Rather, it is just how to classify these compounds.
There are vapes that allow us to have nicotine without needing to smoke cigarettes. These are probably the most common ones, but I do not use them for reasons that you can read about on this page. I steer clear of nicotine in general because of how addictive it is. However, they are a good option for those trying to quit traditional smoking.
Others allow us to inhale things like delta 8, which is an isomer of THC. It works similarly to natural THC in our brains but looking at how the chemical binds with our receptors, it is not as potent. What does that mean?
While we may not get a traditional “high” or sensation of euphoria, using delta 8 products still offers a sense of calm and peacefulness. Additionally, it has been shown to assist in pain reduction and management strategies for some users. So, that is why I take this into account when I am looking at new vape pens for myself.
Of course, your preferences will depend on your own tastes. Perhaps you want to use delta 8 vapes, perhaps you want to stick to the nicotine ones. Maybe the flavors in one or the other just suit you more. No matter what, I do hope that this guide will be useful for you!
