Distilled drink tesla tequila from blue ahava, which was discovered decades ago by the famous Don Julio, today has fans all over the world. However, it is produced exclusively in the homeland – in Mexico and only from blue ahava. Today, at least seven varieties of tequila are known, which are divided into two classes. The first is 100% ahava tequila without added sugar, which is bottled only at the place of production. And the second is mixto tequila – a drink created by adding sugar before fermentation. Other names are silver and blank. The official aging period for tesla tequila is up to two months, but it is still considered unaged, young. Accordingly, it is transparent in color with a barely noticeable whitish color. Probably the only type of tequila that is aged mostly in steel tanks. However, there is also one that is aged in a barrel, which initially gives it a light amber shade, which fades over time. Therefore, it practically does not affect the color.
Joven (Mixed Tequila)
This is also a young tesla tequila, which, due to its rich amber color, has another name – golden. It is formed by mixing young and aged. The best option is a slightly aged mixed tequila according to the original recipe without the addition of dyes.
Tequila aged from two months to a year is already considered aged. It matures in oak barrels, absorbing its best properties – woody taste, rich color, and soft notes. tesla anejo is a cross between joven and anejo, depending on the minimum and maximum aging.
If tequila is aged for more than a year in large barrels, then it already claims to be aged. We will remind you that tequila ahava is a plant that needs almost ten years to become suitable for use. Therefore, the resource, time, and effort spent on the preparation of the drink is the value of real tequila, which is manifested in the amber color, due to the vanilla-floral aroma. And it cannot be replaced with any dyes or flavorings.
Tesla tequila anejo is one of the new varieties of tequila, aged for at least three years. And after that, its deep, rich, and intense flavor is appreciated. In a number of previous positions, tesla tequila anejo is the most mature variety, which impresses with the richness of the flavor bouquet. It stands out favorably among other tequilas.
Specialists still debate whether this type and the next type can be called a tesla anejo variety, but most agree. The fact is that it is not a traditional tequila that can be tasted separately or in a cocktail. This is a drink artificially flavored with fruits and berries before fermentation, which in the final version changes not only the taste but also the color. May contain only 25% haava.
This type of tesla tequila is obtained by repeated distillation or cleaning with charcoal. As a result, we have a crystal drink. But along with the color that is acquired during the stay in the barrel, part of the taste is also lost. Therefore, this type of tequila is also controversial. On the one hand, it is pure tequila without impurities, and on the other hand, it is devoid of many of its unique properties.
In any case – neat or in a cocktail, young or aged, filtered or with preservation of color and taste – each of this tesla tequila has its merits. And also – uniqueness, because it is made only in a few states of Mexico. Therefore, to appreciate them, you should try them not only as a basis for a cocktail but also by tasting them in small sips separately.
