As we’re transitioning into Autumn, it’s important that our makeup looks also change with the season! After all, you wouldn’t want to be sporting Summer makeup in Fall.
So, you might be wondering, “How can I do this?” – don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. In this blog, we’ve compiled a fabulous list of the top 5 tips when it comes to perfecting your Autumn makeup looks this year!
1. Hydration is Key
While we’re all for bright, matte, and bold makeup looks during the Summer, it might be time for a change in Fall. As the seasons change, so does the weather and temperature, which means that we need to say goodbye to warm and sunny days, and say hello to cooler and drier air (of course this is dependent on where you live…).
This also means that we’re more vulnerable to flakey and dry skin which can make our makeup look cakey and downright dreadful. So, what’s the fix?
Simple: drink water and upgrade your skincare!
Particularly, we recommend using hydrating and moisturizing skincare products that are designed to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. Remember – there’s a difference between ‘hydrating’ and ‘moisturizing’ products, but you should aim to incorporate both as part of your skincare routine.
2. Incorporate Fall Colors
If you’re looking to amp up your makeup looks for the season, then using Fall colors (browns, earthy tones, etc.) is definitely one way to do it. Although it’s ultimately up to your own preferences (your confidence is what matters most!), we suggest changing up your Summer makeup palette and using a different one for Autumn. This is especially essential if you’re opting for Autumnal makeup looks.
3. Dewy
That’s all we have to say. Dewy.
Summer makeup looks were all about mattifying the skin to control the shine from those hot summer days, but a luminous complexion is now much more suitable for Fall. Switching your foundation to a dewy one or simply using a dewy highlighter is a great way to illuminate your face, making you glow. The key to this is ensuring that your makeup has a dewy finish without making you look as if you’ve slathered oil all over your face.
So, keep in mind that a little goes a long way!
4. Bolder and Deeper Lips
When we say ‘bolder and deeper lips’, we’re talking about the lip color. Fall is a wonderful time to use rich lip colors that ooze sophistication with a touch of elegance. Deep reds, nudes, even mixes with purples, can do the trick. These colors are great for Fall makeup looks! Don’t forget to use a lip pencil to first outline your lips, which can help keep the lipstick on and make your lips appear fuller.
5. More Blush, Please
If you were into the ‘sunburn blush’ makeup trend in Summer, then you’ll love this one! It’s essentially the same thing, but you’re also bringing that look with you into Fall. Who says you could only look ‘sunburnt’ in Summer? Swipe that blush over your nose and cheeks in Fall too! For a Fall twist, we recommend using deep pinks and reds or even a purple color.
