Australian parents are concerned about problems affecting kids due to the over usage of modern devices. In the past, the availability of modern devices was limited, and kids used to play and use other forms of timepass like Kids Art Box. Soon, in Australia, the availability of devices increased, and the kids are now using such devices from a much younger age. There are several benefits of using modern devices, but their overuse has become a headache for parents. So parents in Australia are looking for viable options to avoid the use of devices by their kids. The main problems by modern-device are:

    Health Problems

Health problems are the most significant aftereffect of the overuse of modern devices. Using mobile phones for a long time affects eye health severely. Eye fixation, blur vision are common among kids who use phones for a long time. The blue light emission from the screen affects the sleep of the kid, which leads to mental and health issues. The lack of sleep drives kids to depression. Daily overuse also causes physical problems like obesity. As mobile phone use increased in Australia, the number of kids suffering from obesity increased among Australian youth.

    Relationship Skills and Mental Health

Relationship skills are significant to improve social skills. Before the introduction of modern devices, kids played together and went out to explore more. It helped them to have more knowledge of how society works. Also, playing with other kids helped them gain more friends. All these helped the children to develop more comprehensive relationship skills. But the addiction to mobile devices restricted them to stay inside, which drove them to less interpersonal experience and developed an introvert mentality. As kids got less connected to society, the chance of depression increased. Also, the lack of support from the community during stressful situations makes them feel alone.

    Internet Traps

Kids are not aware of traps on the internet. It is hard for even adults to understand genuine and corrupt content on the internet. Several fake content promoters are looking to trap kids. Kids can use their parents’ devices, and many of these devices can transfer money without any knowledge of the person. Kids can accidentally use these features, which results in a loss of money. Unsupervised use of phones can lead kids to misuse the device.

Way to Reduce Mobile Usage in Kids

    • Provide Materials for Playing and Help Develop Hobbies

To avoid the use of mobile phones, keep the kid engaged in other activities. Providing playing materials as toys can help to turn their concentration from the phone. Kids are interested in trying new toys, and let them have puzzles. Puzzle toys are sufficient to keep their brain active. All kids will have some hobbies like drawing, reading, etc. So give them materials like Kids Art Box. It will help them to showcase their skills. The appreciation for such skills will encourage them to improve them, and eventually, they will forget about the mobile device.

    • Encourage Participation in Sports

Kids are fond of sports. So, let them choose their favourite sport and support them. Playing sports helps them to stay healthy physically and gives them space to develop interpersonal communication skills. The outdoor sports help them to meet kids from other families with different cultures. And this assists them to understand more about the society they live in.

    • Social Activities

In Australia, several non-profit organisations conduct social activities like cleaning, donation, etc. Kids can volunteer in such organisations for various activities, and this helps them to become responsible citizens. Participating in such social activities will keep them away from modern devices and also helps to improve their social and leadership skills.
