How to Keep Kids Active at Home

With the current pandemic circumstances, you may find it troubling as a parent to keep your children amused and active. Most schools are being completed virtually, and a majority of after-school activities have been canceled to keep our younger generations safe. But what can your kids do at home day in and day out without getting bored?

    Go Outside

Weather permitting, of course, get outside! Spending time outside is not only beneficial for everyone’s health, but also the possibilities are endless of things to do. Outdoor activities can be as simple as going for a walk around the neighborhood. However, children can also play many types of games such as tag, hop scotch, and sporting activities, such as basketball, baseball, or jumping rope.

It’s also a great time to spark new interests in children. Offering them new and exciting hobbies such as gardening will provide them with something new and exciting to look forward to each day.

    Obstacle Course

If outdoor activities aren’t in the cards, there’s also plenty of things to do inside. Consider setting up an obstacle course inside your home. Using household furniture such as couches, chairs, or large pillows for kids to jump from one to the other on and find items for children to climb under.

    Physical Activity

It’s never a bad idea to instill physical activity into your children’s days. Instituting daily times for planned family workouts can be good for all involved. If you’re not sure where to start, there are thousands of home workout videos that can be found on YouTube, kid friendly too.

    Dance Party

Most kids, if not all, love to dance. Turn the music up and let them dance around the house. Looking to make it a little more interesting? Try freeze dancing where the kids freeze once the designated DJ pauses the music.

    Activity Stations

If you’re looking for a more relaxing way to keep the kids entertained, set up numerous activity stations around the house. Place a simple “scientific experiment” activity in the kitchen such as a slime station. You can then set up a coloring station and craft table in another room and a reading nook in a quiet corner.

While getting creative at home is a fun and easy way to keep your children physically and mentally active, the city of Memphis also has numerous exciting indoor activities for kids. Places such as the Children’s Museum of Memphis, Jump World, and Lasertron or just a few fun day trips the kids will be sure to enjoy. Memphis can be a wonderful place for children to grow up and can provide them with plenty of opportunity in the future. Check out Memphis houses for sale to provide your kids with this upbringing.
