5 tips for preventing & fix water damage to your cell phone

    Introduction:

Did you know that water damage is one of the most common reasons cell phones need to be repaired or replaced? A study by Square Trade found that 30% of phone owners have damaged their devices due to water.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of five tips to help you prevent & fix water damage to your cell phone. Following these simple tips can help protect your phone from accidental spills, splashes, and even total submersion.

    1. Always keep your phone in a case.

Keeping your cell phone in the case is probably the simplest way to prevent water damage to your phone. Keeping it in a cell phone case creates a barrier between your phone and the elements. There are all sorts of issues on the market these days, so you should have no trouble finding one that fits your style and needs. If you’re looking for extra protection, waterproof cases are available.

    2. Avoid taking your phone into the bathroom.

It might seem like a good idea to bring your phone into the bathroom to listen to music or catch up on some reading, but it’s one of the riskiest places for your device. Bathrooms are full of moisture, so there’s a greater chance of accidental spills and splashes. If you must bring your phone in with you, ensure it’s in a secure location where it won’t come into contact with any moisture.

    3. Don’t use your phone in inclement weather.

Another situation where it’s best to leave your phone at home is when you’re facing inclement weather. Whether it’s rain, snow, or sleet, exposure to extreme elements can damage your device. So, if you know, you’ll be out in bad weather, leave your phone behind or at least stash it in a safe location where it won’t get wet.

    4. Keep food and drinks away from your phone.

We’ve all been there— reached for our glass only to accidentally knock it over onto our open laptop or smartphone. To avoid this messy situation (and the potential for water damage), always keep food and drinks at least six inches away from all of your devices. If you’re worried about spillage, consider investing in a waterproof keyboard cover or case for added protection.

    5. Know how to correctly power down and dry out your device if it does get wet.

Despite our best efforts, accidents happen, and sometimes our phones get wet whether we like them. If your cell phone gets water damaged, the most important thing is to act fast. Power down your device immediately and remove any removable parts like the SIM card or memory card. Next, blot the excess moisture with a clean cloth (avoid rubbing as this could cause further damage) and place the device in a container of uncooked rice. The rice will help draw out any remaining moisture. Let it be for 24 hours; check to see if the phone powers on when it passes. If it does, congratulations—you’ve successfully saved your device! If not, don’t despair— other options are still available, such as taking advantage of insurance plans, warranty programs, or any authorized repair shop.

    Conclusion:

Following these simple techniques can help protect your phone from accidental spills, splashes, and even total submersion. While there is no guaranteed way to prevent every possible instance of water damage, following these guidelines will give you the most excellent chance of keeping your phone safe and dry. In case of water damage, you can visit authorized cellphone repair shop like king Wireless and Repair.
